Although frequently referred to simply and with technical accuracy as "Sugarloaf Key", this island contains two distinct island communities, known as Lower Sugarloaf Key and Upper Sugarloaf Key.

This is a 2.8-mile (4.5 km) [13] loop blazed with orange diamonds, [13] starting at the Bridle Trail parking lot. Upon reaching the top, the trail drops about 500 feet (150 m) in a quarter of a mile.
