The Document Object Model (DOM) is a cross-platform and language-independent interface that treats an HTML or XML document as a tree structure wherein each node is an object representing a part of the document. The DOM represents a document with a logical tree. Each branch of the tree ends in a node, and each node contains objects.
This unsorted tree has non-unique values (e.g., the value 2 existing in different nodes, not in a single node only) and is non-binary (only up to two children nodes per parent node in a binary tree). The root node at the top (with the value 2 here), has no parent as it is the highest in the tree hierarchy.
XML Trees do not show the content in an Instance document, only the structure of the document. In this example Product is the Root Element of the tree and the two child nodes of Product are Name and Details. Details contains two child nodes, Description and Price. The tree command in Windows and *nix also produce a similar tree structure and path.
Child Node - Any node connected to a parent node by a directed edge. Depth - Length of the path from the root to the node. The set of all nodes at a given depth is sometimes called a level of the tree. The root node is at depth zero. Height - Length of the path from the root to the deepest node in the tree. A (rooted) tree with only one node ...
The inverse relationship is that of a parent node. If node C is a child of node A, then A is the parent node of C. Degree: the degree of a node is the number of children of the node. Depth: the depth of node A is the length of the path from A to the root node. The root node is said to have depth 0. Edge: the connection between nodes. Forest: a ...

To insert a value, we start at the root of the 2–3–4 tree: If the current node is a 4-node: Remove and save the middle value to get a 3-node. Split the remaining 3-node up into a pair of 2-nodes (the now missing middle value is handled in the next step). If this is the root node (which thus has no parent):
