For style manuals in reference-work format, new editions typically appear every 1 to 20 years. For example, the AP Stylebook is revised every other year (since 2020). [ 7 ] The Chicago Manual of Style is in its 18th edition, while the APA and ASA styles are both in their 7th as of 2025.
Editors should structure articles with consistent, reader-friendly layouts and formatting (which are detailed in this guide). Where more than one style or format is acceptable under the MoS, one should be used consistently within an article and should not be changed without good reason. On the inside of the back cover page, extending from the facing page before it, is the endpaper. Its design matches the front endpaper and, in accordance with it, contains either plain paper or pattern, image etc. The back cover often contains biographical matter about the author or editor, and quotes from other sources praising the book.
Similarly, if the page is a list, do not introduce the list as "This is a list of X" or "This list of Xs ...". A clearer and more informative introduction to the list is better than verbatim repetition of the title. A good example of this is the List of Benet Academy alumni.
