Dan Blankenship (seasons 1–6): A treasure seeker on Oak Island for nearly 50 years, Dan was first attracted to the island after reading the same Reader's Digest article that Rick and Marty Lagina did. Dan was responsible for drilling borehole 10–X and had dived to the bottom of the 235-foot-deep (72 m) shaft, the deepest shaft on the island.
When presented to Dan Blankenship, he believes the wood is from Chappell's shaft, not the vault. The team decides to drill in borehole C–1. Alex Lagina, Jack Begley and metal detection expert Gary Drayton start metal detecting on Lot 6, where Samuel Ball once lived. They unearth a large section of chain, a copper ring and a coin.
His and his brother Rick Lagina's interest in the island endured into adulthood, and they eventually visited and later acquired partial ownership of Oak Island. Their ongoing search for the treasure is depicted on The Curse of Oak Island. [4] Lagina and his family started Mari Vineyard in 1999 in Traverse City, Michigan.
The team arrange for Brian Abbott to do additional sonar scans of the lake while Kevin, Al, and Brad are in Georgia with Alex Lagina and Gary Drayton. In Georgia, Gary metal detects along a creek finding parts of an old horseshoe, a square nail, a silver ring, a belt hanger and jewelry while Alex and Brad find a piece of jewelry.
