The Luce Line State Trail was completed west of Plymouth after the line was abandoned in 1972. [6] 20 miles (32 km) of the DNR Segment was paved in 2014, from Winsted to Hutchinson. The project cost $2.2 million, and is the longest paved section built at one time by the DNR. The DNR hopes to pave the entire trail east of Hutchinson. [7]

Carver County extended the trail in 2012 from Mayer, west through New Germany to the Carver/McLeod County Line. The second section runs for 5.5 miles (8.9 km). The former railroad property runs west to Hutchinson MN, but plans are not known at this time for the future trail development west of Carver County.

It is 18 miles (29 km) north-northeast of Glencoe, the county seat, 26 miles (42 km) east-northeast of Hutchinson, and 7 miles (11 km) south of Howard Lake in Wright County.
