The Beaver Brook Wildlife Area is a 1,968-acre (7.96 km 2) tract of protected land located in Washburn County, Wisconsin, managed by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR). This flat plain consists of sandy deposits and contains many bogs that were left over from Glacial Lake Wisconsin. Many of these bogs have been converted into cranberry marshes, helping to make Wisconsin a leader in cranberry production. The remainder of the sand plain consists of forest and irrigated farmland.
The lawsuit is the latest in a 24-year dispute between the tribe and environmental group against the cranberry industry for alleged pollution of waters.
