Hopewell High School is located in the northern part of Mecklenburg County, serving the western portion of Huntersville, and also serving some of the Northwest Charlotte area. The school was founded in 2001. The school's main rival is William A. Hough High School. Hopewell's athletic teams are nicknamed the Titans.

In 2017-2018, Hopewell was one of a few select schools in the entire state of Virginia when its girls basketball team, boys basketball team, baseball team and football team all won Region titles. In 2021, the Hopewell Boys Basketball team, under the guidance of coach Elvin Edmonds, won Hopewell's 2nd state championship by defeating Abingdon.
Folkstyle wrestling is the form of wrestling practiced in Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and (for males) Collegiately in the United States. Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling is practiced at all age levels as well, by different wrestling clubs and teams across the country, and by Team USA at international competitions.
