Wood Material Science and Engineering is a bimonthly peer-reviewed scientific journal covering all aspects of wood science, engineering, and technology. It is published by Taylor & Francis and the editor-in-chief is Dick Sandberg of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). The journal was established in 2006.
Wood science [1] is the scientific field which predominantly studies and investigates elements associated with the formation, the physical and chemical composition, and the macro- and microstructure of wood as a bio-based and lignocellulosic material.
George Mantanis (Greek: Γεώργιος Μαντάνης; born September 18, 1966) is a Greek wood scientist and professor at the University of Thessaly in Greece, who is an elected fellow (FIAWS) of the International Academy of Wood Science [1] [2] and co-editor of the scientific journal, Wood Material Science and Engineering.
A solid wood floor is a floor laid with planks or battens created from a single piece of timber, usually a hardwood. Since wood is hydroscopic (it acquires and loses moisture from the ambient conditions around it) this potential instability effectively limits the length and width of the boards.
