The Morrisville Historic District encompasses most of the historic commercial downtown area of the village of Morrisville in Morristown, Vermont.Developed in the early 19th century as a service town for the surrounding agricultural areas, it was transformed into a major service regional commercial center by the arrive of the railroad in 1872.
The Lamoille County Courthouse is located at 154 Main Street in Hyde Park, the shire town of Lamoille County, Vermont. Built in 1912 to a design by Burlington architect Zachary Taylor Austin (1850–1910), it is a good example of Romanesque and Colonial Revival architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996. [1]
The village of Jeffersonville occupies fertile bottomlands between the Lamoille River, which flows roughly southwest at that point, and the Brewster River, a tributary which flows north into the Lamoille. The village arose in the early 19th century because the Brewster River was well suited to provide water power to industry.
