You could also check the offending/suspect file at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner, you can't do this with the file securely in the chest, you need to Open the chest and right click on the file and select 'Extract' it to a temporary (not original) location first, see below. Create a folder called Suspect in the C:\ drive.
Recently I installed Avast Mobile Security. All is working correctly except the Virus Scan. When I run a virus scan it correctly scans the apps but when it trys to scan the SD card it gets stuck on )% and does not progress. My Free version has Smart Scan, and it runs. And it is the featured scan: first one, its own unique style button, above the other options. What is the difference, in Avast Free, between these two scans, in terms of (1) what they scan, and (2) relative duration of time to scan. Thank you!

The CD would just make for an absolute virus-free platform to be running the scanner from. Still, it was the tiring work of two minutes to Google my way to a copy of that PE builder so if all else fails, I could just make a boot CD and stick the program on that.
