Posted November 6, 2017. Looking at the URL on the screenshot, you're downloading the current stable. What you need to do is go into the Windows Defender Antivirus settings. Somewhere in there you should be able to create an exception, possibly on some sort of white list, for uTorrent.exe. Once done, uTorrent should download just fine.

Torrents that I download usually save to a downloads folder I have, but somehow the directory has been changed from that downloads folder to "c\". I attempted to download a small file and will provide a screenshot to let you know what I mean below.
In Firefox: Tools>Options>Applications. Scroll down to magnet & click on it. Use the small arrow to access the drop down menu. If Use µTorrent (default) is not set, then you need to set it so it is. Then scroll down to TORRENT file & click on it. Use the small arrow to access the drop down menu.
Posted March 6, 2010. Hello. Every time I download a torrent,usually a big file,uTorrent shuts down my PC, and then it (my PC) restarts,but when I pause or stop the download my PC doesn't shut down. I have looked at the FAQ and the incompatibility software section,I use Bitdefender internet security suit,which is not incompatible.
The problem is that any of the downloads I have going on in utorrent will slow down to about 20/30kbps when I leave the computer idle (go afk) for a while and the upload speeds will be raging at like 50-60kbps. When I jump back onto the machine and start doing anything (opening IE or just moving the mouse) the torrent speeds will then increase ...
There are a lot of "modified" versions of Utorrent 2.2.1 with malware attached to them. Utorrent no longer distributes version 2.2.1 - so anybody downloading that version is getting a copy from some unreliable, unauthorized source who is most likely baiting you with downloading their "special edition" which has malware attached to it.
My pc have. Windows 8.1 patch 1. ssd plextor M5S --> OS. HDD ss 2TB --> local download torrent file. uTorrent version 3.41 and default setting After I add torrent to uTorrent for download, Within a minute uTorrent, browser, OS is crashes. I download to HDD and file size 20GB+ with speed < 200kb/s. I run uTorrent as Admin it problem.
