St. Paul's Church opened in 1923 on Franklin Avenue, it was built in the style of a Spanish mission. A school was opened in the 1930s. [5] In 1963, old St. Paul's Church was demolished and services were then held in the gymnasium/auditorium of St. Paul's School on Clinton Avenue. [6] [7] In 2007, St. Paul's merged with Assumption parish.

The oldest parish in town, St. Joseph, and St. Mary of the Assumption had merged in the 1990s. St. Mary of the Assumption Church, which became Saints Mary and Joseph, is located at 11th Street and Avenue E. It was individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. Sacred Heart Church is located at 23rd Street and Ave I.
St. Mary's was the second Catholic parish established in Trenton after St. John's, which was located on the present site of Sacred Heart Church on South Broad Street. [2] Ground was broken for the parish church on April 23, 1866, and it was dedicated on January 1, 1871, by Bishop James Roosevelt Bayley of Newark.
