Prior to annexation, Murrieta Hot Springs was a Census-designated place of Riverside County, California. [2] The population was 2,948 at the 2000 census. The ZIP Code 92362 was originally used, until 92563 was introduced in the early 1990s. [3]
It opened in August 2003, relieving the overcrowding at Murrieta Valley High School, which had been the district's only comprehensive high school until that time.
