[1] It was established on 22 July 1970 by The Himachal Pradesh University Act, 1970 (HP Act No 17 of 1970) by the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly, before the emergence of Himachal Pradesh as a full state of India.
The institution was initially affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The first 05 batches were affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University i.e. 2010-2014 batch was the last to get degrees from Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The construction of the college is going on in stages.
Alakh Prakash Goyal Shimla University (AGU) is a private university [3] located near Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India on the Mehli Shoghi bypass road. [4] The university was established in 2012 by the A.P. Goyal Charitable Trust through the APG (Alakh Prakash Goyal) Shimla University Establishment and Regulation Act, 2012 .
It functions under the Executive Council of the Himachal Pradesh University since 1971 in the university campus. The institute admits students from all over the country to MBA through HPU-MAT (HP University Management Aptitude Test) [1] held every year in the month of May. The academic program of UBS is affiliated to HP University Shimla.
The college was started in 2009 and it took its first batch of students in 3 disciplines then affiliated to the Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. Later it came under Himachal Pradesh Technical University after the latter was formed. It is AICTE Approved. [3]
