In 2011, the show's name changed to After the Bounce and it moved to Sunday nights, normally immediately after the final game of the round. Whateley hosted the show for the final time in 2011, before his other show, AFL 360, was extended to be broadcast four nights per week in 2012 with the launch of the new 24/7 AFL channel Fox Footy.
The show consistently beat The Footy Show in the ratings beginning in the latter half of the 2017 season and continuing until Nine Network axed The Footy Show in 2019. [9] In 2019, their Grand Final show was held at the Hotel Esplanade in St Kilda, [10] and included AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan as a guest and Picket Palace as the house band.
Filming for the show began on 4 June 2018 in Melbourne. [6] The eight-part series began airing on 19 September 2018 on Network Ten and WIN Television. [5] The first episode was available to view one week early on the catch-up service 10Play. [5] On 14 November 2018, Network 10 announced the show had been renewed for a second season. [11]
