Daanbantayan, officially the Municipality of Daanbantayan (Cebuano: Lungsod sa Daanbantayan; Tagalog: Bayan ng Daanbantayan), is a municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 93,502 people.
Datu Daya was a legendary lord of Kandaya ("Daya's (kingdom)"), the place that is now known as Daanbantayan, Cebu, in the Philippines. [1] According to oral tradition, Datu Daya was the ruler of the first settlers in northern Cebu. The new settlers cleared forests and in a few years were able to establish a progressive community.

Malapascua is a Philippine island situated in the Visayan Sea, 6.8 kilometres (4.2 mi) across a shallow strait from the northernmost tip of Cebu Island. Administratively, it is part of the peninsular barangay of Logon, Daanbantayan, Cebu. Malapascua is a small island, only about 2.5 by 1 kilometre (1.55 by 0.62 mi), and has eight hamlets.
The 173.5-hectare (429-acre) turtle-shaped island is located north of Malapascua Island which itself is north of mainland Cebu. Carnaza is then the northernmost offshore island and barangay of the municipality of Daanbantayan. The island is bordered on all sides by the Visayan Sea.
The island can be reached by ferry from Hagnaya Wharf in San Remigio, Cebu, or from Cebu City(by air through the Mactan Cebu International Airport), or from Cadiz in Negros Occidental.
