This is a list of lakes in the Commonwealth of Virginia in the United States. Virginia has two natural lakes, and several man-made lakes and reservoirs. [ 1 ] Swimming, fishing, and/or boating are permitted in some of these lakes, but not all.
Lake Anna is approximately 17 miles (27 km) long from tip to tip, with 200 miles (320 km) of shoreline. [3] The lake is divided into two sides by three stone dikes. The public side (also known as the "cold" side) is roughly 9,000 acres (36 km 2 ), while the private side (known as the "warm" side) is roughly 4,000 acres (16 km 2 ).

Philpott Lake is a reservoir in the U.S. state of Virginia. [1] It is impounded by Philpott Dam. The lake is at an elevation of 974 feet (297 m), [1] covers an area of 2,900 acres (12 km 2), and has a shoreline length of 100 miles (160 km). Philpott Lake extends into Franklin, Henry, and Patrick counties, Virginia.
Lake Monticello, a private gated community, is a census-designated place (CDP) in Fluvanna County, Virginia, United States. The population was 10,126 at the 2020 census. [ 3 ] The community is centered on a man-made lake of the same name, which is formed by a dam on a short tributary of the nearby Rivanna River .
It is 8 miles (13 km) north of Louisa, the county seat, 30 miles (48 km) east of Charlottesville, and 63 miles (101 km) northwest of Richmond. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.8 square miles (4.7 km 2), of which 1.4 square miles (3.6 km 2) are land and 0.4 square miles (1.1 km 2), or 23.90%, are water. [1]

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the Twin Lakes CDP has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.3 km 2), of which 1.2 square miles (3.1 km 2) are land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km 2), or 7.28%, are water.
