The Philippine five hundred-peso note (Filipino: Limandaang Piso) (₱500) is a denomination of Philippine currency. President Corazon Aquino and her husband, Senator Benigno Aquino Jr. are currently featured on the front side of the note, while the Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park and the blue-naped parrot are featured on the reverse side.
On March 3, 1986, a new 20-peso banknote appeared. After the 1986 People Power Revolution [5] [9] and the new 1987 Constitution was promulgated, the Central Bank issued a new 50, 100- and for the second time a new 500-peso banknote with the face of Benigno Aquino Jr.
The BSP initially released five million pieces of the new 20, 50, 100, 500, and 1,000-peso bills with Duterte's signature. As for the 200-pesos bills, only two million pieces were released because of lower demand for this denomination. The new design of the 1000-peso bill would later be adopted for the 50-peso, 100-peso, and 500-peso bills as part of the First Philippine polymer series, which was unveiled in December 2024.
