Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), was established by the government of Uttar Pradesh on 8 May 2000 (Act No. 1248 (2)XVII-V-I-I-19-2000 Uttar Pradesh Adhiniyam Sankhya 23 of 2000).
KTU was established by the Government of Kerala through an Ordinance on 21 May 2014. [7] Kuncheria P. Isaac, a former Member Secretary of the All India Council for Technical Education, was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor of the university on 1 September 2014, and M. Abdul Rahman, former All India Council for Technical Education Director, was appointed as the first Pro-Vice-Chancellor. [8]

It is an affiliated college of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU). [2] It is recognised by the All India Council for Technical Education. [3] It was established in 1986 by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to provide impetus to technical education in the state and was the fifth government engineering college in the state.
Institutions often set a minimum aggregate percentage requirement, usually 75% and the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main is a prominent entrance exam for B.Tech. admissions, comprising questions in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. [12] JEE Advanced is the subsequent exam for those trying to enter the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
A three-year B.Tech. degree for diploma holders as lateral entries is offered. All courses are full-time. In the 2014–15 academic year courses started including M.Tech. in every branch, and a 5-years integrated courses (integrated M.Sc.) along with a 2-years M.Sc. in applied physics, applied chemistry and mathematics and computing.
Admissions to the B.Tech. programmes are through the NTA JEE Main exam since 2017 (and previously, SEE-UPTU from 2001 to 2016), and to the M.Tech. programmes are via the JAM exam. Full-time two-year MBA, MCA, and M.Sc. (in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) programmes are offered at the masters level.
The North Avenue Apartments (commonly known as "North Ave") are also noted as the first Georgia Tech buildings to rise above the top of Tech Tower. Open to second-year undergraduate students and above, the buildings are located on East Campus, across North Avenue and near Bobby Dodd Stadium, putting more upperclassmen on East Campus. [64]
