1893: Pastor Dr. Lewis Herman Schuh (1858-1936; of Tacoma’s German Evangelical Trinity Church) traveled to Elbe to organize the Elbe Evangelical Lutheran Church congregation & to hold its first services in the Elbe Town Hall. 1895-1905: Pastor J. F. Oertel (of Puyallup) led worship services in homes in Elbe. 1903: Sachs platted the town of Elbe.
The Elbe Evangelical Lutheran Church is a small church with the German inscription “Ev. Luth. KIRCHE”, which was built in 1906 by the inhabitants according to the plans of Reverend Karl Kilian. The church is 7.32 by 5.49 m (24.0 by 18.0 ft) and can accommodate 46 people. The height of the church tower is 14.02 m (46.0 ft).
