Thompson Rivers University (commonly referred to as TRU) is a public teaching and research university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees and vocational training.Its main campus is in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada, and its name comes from the two rivers which converge in Kamloops, the North Thompson and South Thompson.

The Thompson Rivers University Community Legal Clinic is the first student-staffed free legal clinic in the BC Interior. The Open Learning Division of Thompson Rivers University was created in 2005 when the university assumed ownership of all courses and programs of the former BC Open University. Today TRU-OL is based in the new BC Centre for Open Learning building located on the main Kamloops campus of TRU.
