"The term [zealot] derives from Greek ζηλωτής (zelotes), "emulator, zealous admirer or follower"." Terms cannot derive from themselves, even in other parts of speach. The definition of a word cannot contain the word itself, even in another part of speech. The word "zealous" in the definition of zelotes is absurd.
