The original Morris was adopted in 1968 from the Hinsdale Humane Society, a Chicago-area animal shelter, [1] by professional animal handler Bob Martwick. [2] An invention of the Leo Burnett advertising company where Martwick worked, Morris was featured in 58 television commercials which aired from 1969 to 1978.
She was also known as an animal trainer, providing animals for the film Doctor Dolittle (1967) and BBC productions. [73] Mary tamed wild animals for roles in films and Chipperfield's Circus. Mary worked with her father in creating the Longleat Safari Park. In 1999, she was accused of cruel treatment of some animals in her circus.
