Pretoria High School for Girls (often called PHSG), is a full-government, fee-charging, English-medium high school for girls located in Hatfield, Pretoria in the Gauteng province of South Africa. It is the sister school to Pretoria Boys High School. [1] The high school was founded in 1902 by Edith Aitken.

The school opened its doors for boys and girls. The Education Department suggested that the school buildings might be used as a hostel for the newly established girls high school in Arcadia called Pretoria High School for Girls. When the Bishop William Carter was appointed as second Bishop of Pretoria (1903–1909). He fervently opposed the absorbing of church schools by the government.
On January 19, 1943, the Junior Hoërskool Pretoria-Noord seceded from Pretoria North Parallel and the standard six to eight students went over to House Zealand. The construction of the school started in 1944 and was completed in 1946. Pretoria North High School was officially founded in 1951. [3] [4]
