The Baku City Circuit [3] (Azerbaijani: Bakı Şəhər Halqası) is a motor racing street circuit located in Baku, Azerbaijan constructed near Baku Boulevard.A lap of the circuit is 6.003 km (3.730 mi), making it the fourth-longest circuit on the Formula One calendar [4] (after Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Jeddah Street Circuit and Las Vegas Strip Circuit). The Grand Prix in Baku was the second to be held in the former Soviet Union, following the Russian Grand Prix at Sochi, first held in 2014. [ 14 ] The circuit passed its final inspection in May 2016 with FIA Race Director Charlie Whiting declaring his satisfaction that the circuit would be ready in time for the race. [ 15 ]

The race was held on 25 June and was one of five races to be held on a street circuit during the 2017 Formula One season, along with the Singapore, Monaco, Australian and Canadian Grands Prix. The winner of the first Azerbaijan Grand Prix was Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull, who scored his first win of the season.
