Užgavėnės [ʊʒ'ɡaːvʲeːnʲeːs] is a Lithuanian festival that takes place during the seventh week before Easter (Ash Wednesday). The celebration corresponds to Roman Catholic holiday traditions in other parts of the world, such as Mardi Gras, Shrove Tuesday, and Carnaval.
The Klaipėda Sea Festival has been held annually in the city of Klaipėda, Lithuania during the month of July since 1934. [1] In 2009, the city hosted the Tall Ships Race as part of the festival. [2] According to a city website, about 500,000 people have been present at the event. [3]
