Methodist gatherings were established by 1797, and in 1811, Bishop Richard Allen of Philadelphia founded the local African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), which eventually became the Mount Pisgah AME Church today. Stratford is a borough in Camden County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey.As of the 2020 United States census, the borough's population was 6,981, [9] [10] a decrease of 59 (−0.8%) from the 2010 census count of 7,040, [19] [20] which in turn reflected a decline of 231 (−3.2%) from the 7,271 counted in the 2000 census. [21]
The African American population in New Jersey is predominantly located in urban areas, specifically in the cities of Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, and Trenton, as well as in Essex and Union Counties. South Jersey also harbors a substantial African American population, primarily concentrated in Camden County, Willingboro, and Atlantic City.
