Xanga first added weblogs to Xanga Sites on November 5, 2000. Comments were added soon after, on December 8, 2000, along with "eProps", which a user could give to another user's entry to show they enjoyed it. A core part of Xanga was the ability to subscribe to other Xanga Sites.
