In 2009, Southland opened its first satellite campus in Danville, KY. In 2010, Southland purchased the former Lexington Mall and a campus opened there in January 2013. In 2015, Southland began holding services in Georgetown, KY at Lemons Mill Elementary. In 2018, Southland announced a launch of a new campus in Richmond, KY in 2020.
Districts 1, 3, and 5 hold elections in presidential election years, while Districts 2, and 4 hold elections in mid-term years. The board holds two meetings each month, both open to the public. The first meeting of the month is an agenda planning meeting, while official action is taken at the second meeting.
Note: The Caverna Independent Schools district includes a portion of northwest Barren County, as well as a part of southern Hart County. The district's headquarters and its elementary school are in Cave City, in Barren County, while its middle and high school is located in Horse Cave, in Hart County.
