Jonathan Stephen Ross OBE (born 17 November 1960) [1] is an English broadcaster, film critic, comedian, actor, writer, and producer. He presented the BBC One chat show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross during the 2000s and early 2010s, hosted his own radio show on BBC Radio 2 from 1999 to 2010, and served as film critic and presenter of the Film programme.
Growing up in outer east London, Ross was educated at Norlington School for Boys, and later read English at the University of Kent.Realising he would not be able to follow the academic career he favoured, "an English lecturer at a polytechnic", [1] he commenced training as a journalist at the University of Exeter and subsequently started his career with the Western Times in Exeter in 1982.
