' People's Liberation Front ', PLF) is a leftist political party in Sri Lanka. [14] The party was formerly a revolutionary movement and was involved in two armed uprisings against the government of Sri Lanka: once in 1971 , and another in 1987–1989 . The motive for both uprisings was to establish a socialist state. [15]
Polling divisions in Sri Lanka are subdivisions of the country's electoral districts. From the 1st parliamentary election in 1947 to the 8th in 1977, members were elected to the parliament using a first-past-the-post system from these polling divisions. This system changed in 1978. [1]
