Relient K (/ r ɪ ˈ l aɪ. ɪ n t ˈ k eɪ / ) is an American rock band formed in 1998 in Canton, Ohio by Matt Thiessen , Matt Hoopes , and Brian Pittman during their third year in high school and time at Malone University in Canton.
According to lead singer, Matt Thiessen, the album was created with a "Five" theme, as it is the band's fifth album, and for the first time Relient K has five members on an album. The "Seven Years Ago" links with the fact that the group's first album was created seven years prior to the release of this album, making for five albums in seven years.
Since Relient K's early days, Thiessen's main influences have been in the pop punk genre, [6] specifically NOFX, Less Than Jake, Ghoti Hook, MxPx, [5] and Goldfinger. [14] He later introduced influences from Simon & Garfunkel , Ben Folds , and The Beach Boys , [ 6 ] whom he has named as his favorite band. [ 5 ]

Ethan John Luck is an American musician, producer, multi-instrumentalist and photographer who has played in several bands, most prominently, the ska band The O.C. Supertones, Demon Hunter, Kings of Leon, Morgan Wade, and pop punk band Relient K. [1]
He appeared on the song "Deathbed" Relient K's 2007 album, Five Score and Seven Years Ago. In September 2009, Jazz musician Karl Denson released the album "Brother's Keeper" in which two songs were co-written by Foreman, and one song, "Drums of War", was solely written by Foreman, which he also sang on. Hoopes resumed touring with Relient K in May 2011, as he performed with the band for their acoustic concerts before the Vans Warped Tour. In 2019, Hoopes launched a guitar effect pedal brand named "1981 Inventions". [3] Their first product was the DRV pedal, designed by engineer Jon Ashley of Bondi Effects and based on the ProCo Rat.
Mmhmm is the fourth full-length studio album by American rock band Relient K, released on November 2, 2004, by Gotee and Capitol Records.This album includes their breakthrough singles "Be My Escape" and "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" and also earned the group a Canadian Juno Award nomination for Contemporary Christian/Gospel Album of the Year in 2006.
