Swinford Toll Bridge is a privately owned toll bridge across the Thames in Oxfordshire, England. It crosses the river just above Eynsham Lock , between the village of Eynsham on the north-west bank and the hamlet of Swinford on the south-east bank (in Berkshire until 1974).
A previous bridge was held by the Royalists in 1645. Swinford in the English county of Oxfordshire is a hamlet in the civil parish of Cumnor. It lies on the road between Eynsham and Farmoor (B4044) on the south bank of the River Thames. The Swinford Toll Bridge carrying the B4044 crosses the River Thames here. In 1974 it was transferred from Berkshire to the county of Oxfordshire.
A short distance upstream of the lock is Swinford Toll Bridge. After the bridge there used to be a very sharp horseshoe bend which gave problems to navigation until a cut was built across it in 1900. The river continues to head south west through predominantly open country. The only interruption is a large marina on the eastern bank.
Tolls would increase by 25 cents on Jan. 5, 2025, followed by additional 25-cent increases between 2026 and 2028, in addition to automatic toll hikes based on inflation.
