Josiah Crane was the third son of John Crane III; John Crane II was born in Elizabeth in 1723, son of John Crane, who first settled along the river in Cranford around 1715. [ 7 ] Josiah Crane Jr. sold the property in 1867 to Henry and Cecelia Phillips, who lived there until Henry's death on May 6, 1911. [ 8 ]
