A star prism is a nonconvex polyhedron constructed by two identical star polygon faces on the top and bottom, being parallel and offset by a distance and connected by rectangular faces. A uniform star prism will have Schläfli symbol {p/q} × { }, with p rectangles and 2 {p/q} faces. It is topologically identical to a p-gonal prism.
Prism spectacles with a single prism perform a relative displacement of the two eyes, thereby correcting eso-, exo, hyper- or hypotropia. In contrast, spectacles with prisms of equal power for both eyes, called yoked prisms (also: conjugate prisms , ambient lenses or performance glasses ) shift the visual field of both eyes to the same extent.
If the prism's edges are perpendicular to the base, the lateral faces are rectangles, and the prism is called a right triangular prism. [3] This prism may also be considered a special case of a wedge. [4] 3D model of a (uniform) triangular prism. If the base is equilateral and the lateral faces are square, then the right triangular prism is ...
Properties: convex, zonohedron: Vertex figure 4.4.6 3D model of a uniform hexagonal prism. In geometry, the hexagonal prism is a prism with hexagonal base.
Properties: convex: Vertex figure 4.4.5 3D model of a (uniform) pentagonal prism. In geometry, the pentagonal prism is a prism with a pentagonal base.
Properties: convex, zonohedron: Vertex figure 4.4.8 In geometry, the octagonal prism is a prism comprising eight rectangular sides joining two regular octagon caps.
Properties: Convex semiregular: Vertex figure; ... (uniform) heptagonal prism. In geometry, the heptagonal prism is a prism with heptagonal base. This polyhedron has ...
In geometry, the pentagrammic prism is one of an infinite set of nonconvex prisms formed by square sides and two regular star polygon caps, in this case two pentagrams. It is a special case of a right prism with a pentagram as base, which in general has rectangular non-base faces. Topologically it is the same as a convex pentagonal prism.
