JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort and Spa is a historic resort and spa owned by Marriott International, Inc, located on the southern slope of Mummy Mountain in Paradise Valley, Arizona, United States. The Camelback Inn was established in 1936 by Jack Bell Stewart and John C. Lincoln.
In 1968, the Camelback Inn was purchased by Bill Marriott of Marriott International and in March 2003, the hotel was officially renamed by its parent corporation as "Camelback Inn, a JW Marriott Resort & Spa". It is located at 5402 East Lincoln Drive.
The JW Marriott brand was established in 1984, with the opening of the first hotel in Washington, D.C. [3] It was named as a tribute to J.W. Marriott, the founder of Marriott Corporation. In 1989, Hong Kong was the destination for the overseas launch.
The resort opened for business on October 1, 1988, [7] The hotel initially had 604 rooms, 132 casitas, a VIP suite and a presidential suite. The dome in the hotel's lobby was covered with 24 karat gold, and the cactus garden, which contained over 250 varieties of cacti, was the second largest in the state when it was completed. [ 5 ]

The historic Paradise Valley Methodist Church was built in 1960 and is located at 4455 East Lincoln Road. The church's chapel with its stained glass window was built in 1964. Both are featured in the "Valley of the Sun", television program about Phoenix and its surrounding areas in the 1960s. [7]
