Cottonwood is a town in Houston County, Alabama, United States. One source said the town incorporated in 1901, [2] although the 1910 U.S. Census stated 1903. It is part of the Dothan, Alabama Metropolitan Statistical Area. At the 2010 census the population was 1,289, [3] up from 1,170 in 2000.
Other cities in the district include Andalusia, Dothan, Greenville, and Troy. The district is represented by Democrat Shomari Figures, after being elected in 2024. The 2nd was scheduled to be completely overhauled in advance of the 2024 elections, in consequence of the United States Supreme Court's decision in Allen v.
