Digital image correlation and tracking is an optical method that employs tracking and image registration techniques for accurate 2D and 3D measurements of changes in images. This method is often used to measure full-field displacement and strains , and it is widely applied in many areas of science and engineering.
YaDICs is a program written to perform digital image correlation on 2D and 3D tomographic images. The program was designed to be both modular, by its plugin strategy and efficient, by it multithreading strategy.
The elastix software also offers other features that can be employed to speed up the registration procedure and to provide more advanced algorithms to the end-users. Some examples are the introduction of blur and Gaussian pyramid to reduce data complexity, and multi-image and multi-metric framework to deal with more complex applications. [8]
ImageJ supports image stacks, a series of images that share a single window, and it is multithreaded, so time-consuming operations can be performed in parallel on multi-CPU hardware. ImageJ can calculate area and pixel value statistics of user-defined selections and intensity-thresholded objects.
Image registration or image alignment algorithms can be classified into intensity-based and feature-based. [3] One of the images is referred to as the moving or source and the others are referred to as the target, fixed or sensed images. Image registration involves spatially transforming the source/moving image(s) to align with the target image.
The full-field monitoring capabilities of an image correlation technique allow for the measurement of strain magnitude and location on the surface of a specimen during a displacement-causing event, [10] such as PCBA during a thermal profile. These "strain maps" allow for the comparison of strain levels over full areas of interest.
The method is a direct extension of 2D-DIC and is known as either volumetric digital image correlation [citation needed] (V-DIC) or digital volume correlation (DVC). Even though successful StereoDIC experiments were performed in a laboratory setting, [ 3 ] [ 4 ] the system's complex calibrations limited its usefulness to optical benches and/or ...
Version 8.0 (June 2019) is the successor of both Mountains 7.4 and SPIP 6.7 software packages ("SPIP" standing for "Scanning Probe Image Processor") after the acquisition by Digital Surf of the Danish company Image Metrology A/S, the editor of SPIP. [25] Version 8.0 also introduces the analysis of free form surfaces, called "Shells" in the ...
