The West Virginia & Regional History Center (WVRHC), [1] is the largest archival collection housing documents and manuscripts involving West Virginia and the surrounding central Appalachian region. [2] Because of name changes over the years, it is sometimes referred to as the "West Virginia Collection."
The Museum is located two blocks from the riverboat landing at the corner of 2nd and Juliana Streets. Exhibits focus on the regional history of west and central West Virginia, and include household furnishings, art, clothing, and prehistoric Native American tools, jewelry, weapons and items. Admission is separate from the park.

The Black Minqua were located in the West Virginia (Grant, Hampshire and Hardy counties) and Maryland (Allegany County) areas that share the Potomac River as a border. They may have been part of the Erie people , and were bitter enemies of the Iroquois Confederacy for control of the fur trade like their Erie and Huron allies. [ 39 ]
