There is a VERY easy way to reset the tank to 0%. Remove the circuit board inside, locate the eeprom and read it. Put the board back inside the printer. Use the free code to reset the tank to 90%. Remove the board and redump the eeprom and compare to the first dump. Now just change the eeprom byte that's different to make it 0%.
Get a Maintenance Resetter Chip, I got one for my C9345 based Epson (C9345 is the part number for the maintenance box). Works a treat. Then just get the maintenance box and take all the pads out and fit a pipe to an external plastic tub (one with a clip on lid for food storage). Pour away the ink when the tub gets full.
I know you posted this a long time ago but thank you. I just had this problem today and was about to pay$9 for the other ransomware app. but this one is free as it should be. and I got my canon printer working with it. and this free app has a lot more features than the one that requires a key. anyways - thanks again :)
It's seriously just a bullshit artificial limit for them to get more money from you. Like replacing the wastepad is so simple and the reset counter should be easily reset but instead they make it such a hassle that you have to download these "crack" programs to get it back working. Fuck these printer companies.

WIC ink pad counter reset. so i want to try their free trial reset (resetting the counter to 80 or 90%) but when i download the file my browser immediately blocks the file and sends a warning. i downloaded the file here -> https://inkchip (.)net/wic/ <-.
