    If it is 2-pin, then 2-pin type C is OK. If it is a 3-pin plug, you need a 3-pin type L plug (3 pins in a line). Both types fit into an Italian socket. I have heard some newer Italian hotel rooms also have Schuko (type F) sockets to cater for visitors from northern Europe. Type C also fits in these. Posted by knhellesky. United States.

    The 2 prong adapter will be the same in both Italy and Greece. Your iPhone already has the converter to get you 110 from their 220. There are actually at least three different types of outlets in Italy. (They also vary by the shape of the plug itself that you need.

A CPAP machine is another. For items like USB ports or battery chargers, you need an adapter, but be safe and check. If the item says 120-240, then an adapter is fine.

    Sometimes the actual wall sockets in Italy are recessed deeper in than a flat wall socket.. In that case, you can find a local hardware store there, or a "Tutto 99 Cent" store, and they will have extender plugs so you can then plug in your adaptor.

We bought the 3 prong and now I’m doubting myself.

    2193 posts. France, Spain and Italy have the same type of electrical outlets. An adapter that works in one country will work in the others. The voltage and frequency are also identical: 230 volts / 50 hertz. Check anyway that your electrical devices are designed to operate on 230 volts.

    The type "L" Plug Adaptor is for grounded appliances (ie: three pins). The devices you'll be travelling with will likely be ungrounded so two pins is all you'll need. NOTE that the grounded Type "L" Plug Adaptor will only work in Italy. Switzerland and other countries in Europe use a different type of grounded Adaptor.

As long as you are using a non-grounding (2 blade) American plug, and your device draws less than 2½ amps (about 575W), you can us an ungrounded, 2 round pin Europlug adapter, like this one. These adapters should fit in the receptacles in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, and Switzerland.
