Nizam's Museum or H.E.H Nizam's Museum is a museum located in Hyderabad at Purani Haveli, a palace of the erstwhile Nizams. [1] This museum showcases the gifts that the last Nizam of Hyderabad State , Osman Ali Khan, Asaf Jah VII received on his silver jubilee celebrations. [ 2 ]
The museum was then located at Town Hall where today Stated Assembly is located. The museum was later shifted to the present building constructed by the seventh Nizam. In 1930 the museum was named as Hyderabad Museum by the Nizam. [1] The museum was formally inaugurated by the Nizam on 31st March 1931.
The highlight of the museum is a mounted Kotasaurus yamanpalliensis, the remains of a 160-million-year-old dinosaur. Purani Haveli – located near afzal gunj bridge, is a single-storied building with European architecture. The museum's attractions include the nizam's walk-in wardrobe, hand-operated lift, etc.
