The Shahr Ashob (Persian: شهر آشوب; Shahr-i Ashob (lit. 'The city's misfortune' [1]), sometimes spelled Shahar-i Ashūb or Shahrashub, is a genre that becomes prominent in Urdu poetry in South Asia with its roots in classical Persian and Urdu poetic lamentations.

Poetry Qazi Muhammad Shamshad Nabi Farooqi, better known by his pen-name Saqi Farooqi ( Urdu : ساقی فاروقی ), was a British-Pakistani poet who wrote in both Urdu and English. Best known for his modernist Urdu poetry , mostly ghazal's and nazm's , he has authored critical essays as well.
Most of Shakir's ghazalyaat contain five to ten couplets, often - though not always - inter-related. Sometimes, two consecutive couplets may differ greatly in meaning and context [For example, in one of her works, the couplet 'That girl, like her home, perhaps/ Fell victim to the flood' is immediately followed by 'I see light when I think of you/ Perhaps remembrance has become the moon'].
Indian author Amrita Pritam, also a close friend of Sara, wrote two books based on the life and works of Sara; Ek Thi Sara (There was a Sara) (1990) and Life and Poetry of Sara Shagufta (1994). Main Sara (Me, Sara), a play written by Shahid Anwar, is based on the life of Sara. [ 2 ]
He became known among the masses owing to his beautiful poetry. Khalid wrote poetry regularly for several literary magazines. Five of his books are compilations of his poetry. He is counted among the poets who introduced Urdu Ghazal to new trends, giving a new definition to progressive-ism.
