This is something that I am fearful of…I have always been fairly thin and I too have gained weight (about 15 extra pounds) so I am worried that having the surgery will increase the wieght gain and I will not be able to lose it no matter how much I diet and exercise.
This is a common misperception about hysterectomies and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) — that they cause weight gain. Scientific studies do not support this belief. Having a hysterectomy doesn’t “make” women gain weight. Taking HRT doesn’t “make” women gain weight. Some women gain weight, some lose weight, and others stay the same.
Re: Weight gain after oophorectomy I had an oophorectomy of my right ovary on April 30th, 2013(hysterectomy in 2005 that just left ovaries) . I have gained about 10lbs in just a little over a month!
Weight gain after hysterectomy Ok, first of realize that I am only 12 days post op now but this has been my experience so far. I also have PCOS & had a very enlarged uterus.

Weight Gain After Hysterectomy? I lost over 20 pounds after I had my hysterectomy, by increasing my exercise and decreasing my caloric intake. It's the same method I have used to keep my weight under control (and lose pounds when I become overweight) before I had my surgery. :hidekey: Best Wishes,
