The village was first mentioned in 1913 as Nieuwe diep (Het), and means "new canal". It can be used both for the canal and the village. [3] The canal was dug in the middle of the 19th century to excavate the peat in the area. The school in the village closed down in 1995, and is currently in use as village house. [4]

Nieuwe Krim is a hamlet in the Netherlands and is part of the Coevorden municipality in Drenthe. Nieuwe Krim is a statistical entity, [1] but the postal authorities have placed it under Coevorden. [3] It was first mentioned in 1913 as Dalerveld or Nieuwe Krim. It's called Nieuw (New) to distinguish it from De Krim.
