Genesee County (/ ˈ dʒ ɛ n ə s i / JEN-ə-see) is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan.As of the 2020 Census, the population was 406,211, [1] making it the fifth-most populous county in Michigan, and the most populous in Mid Michigan.
The county's largest newspaper is The Flint Journal, which dates back to 1876. Effective June 2009 the paper ceased to be a daily publication, opting to publish on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays. The move made Genesee County the largest county in the United States without a daily newspaper.
Gleason was elected to the Genesee County Board of Commissioners in 1994. He moved on to be elected to the state House of Representatives 48 District in 2002 continuing as Representative until he was elected to Michigan Senate in 2006. He was reelected State Senator in 2010 to his final available term under state term limits.
