The tournament took place from 22 to 26 October 2024 in the Solomon Islands, who hosted the tournament for the first time. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] The tournament doubled as qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in Seychelles set to be held from 1 to 11 May 2025, with one slot being allocated to the champions. [ 3 ]
However, in June 2023, the tournament was postponed until 15 to 25 February 2024, [6] in order to provide more time to the organisers to prepare for the event. [7] As a consequence, its original 2023 branding was dropped, and it subsequently became referred to as the 2024 edition. [ 8 ]
The 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup European Qualifiers was a beach soccer tournament contested by European beach soccer national teams who are members of UEFA. The tournament decided the four qualifiers that will go to the 2023 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. This event took place from 2–9 July in Baku, Azerbaijan. [1]
The tournament winner qualified for the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. By winning the 2022 OFC Champions League and the 2023 OFC Champions League, Auckland City earned the right to play at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States before even playing the 2024 OFC Men's Champions League. The tournament also served as part of the OFC's qualifying competition for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. After the cancellation of the 2020 OFC Nations Cup, the tournament was confirmed for 2024 as the 2024 OFC Men's Nations Cup. A total of 13 matches were played, in which 46 goals were scored, at an average of 3.54 goals per match. Attendance at all stages of the tournament reached 41,400, averaging 3,185 viewers per match.
