In the 1960s, sports clubs in Hanoi and Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) began to play the sport and started to spread its popularity across the North and the South. Introduced to badminton by his father at the early age of 10, Nguyen Tien Minh was immediately captivated by the sport.
