The Royal Queensland Golf Club is a golf club and course at the end of Curtin West Avenue, Eagle Farm, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Located beside the Brisbane River is a 10-minute drive from the Brisbane CBD. It has hosted the Australian Open three times: in 1947, 1966, and 1973.
The Australian WPGA Championship is a women's professional golf tournament on the WPGA Tour of Australasia held in Queensland, Australia. [1] First held at Royal Queensland Golf Club in 2022, it later moved to Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club. Players compete to lift the Karrie Webb Cup. [2]
The first match was played between New South Wales and Victoria at The Australian Golf Club on the afternoon of 1 September 1904, the day before the inaugural Australian Open started on the same course. Eight 18-hole singles matches were played.
The inaugural championship was played at Brisbane Golf Club in late November with 12 professionals competing. There was a 36-hole stroke-play stage with the leading 4 qualifying for the match-play. The 36-hole semi-finals were played the following day with the 36-hole final on the third day. [ 2 ]
