The Teton–Yellowstone tornado was a rare high-altitude tornado which occurred on July 21, 1987, in the U.S. state of Wyoming. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] Rated at F4 on the Fujita scale , it remains the strongest tornado ever recorded in the state and the only officially rated F4/EF4 in Wyoming history.

The October 1997 North American storm complex was a blizzard and tornado outbreak that affected the Northwest, Rockies, much of the Midwest and Deep South. 84 tornadoes were confirmed as the system moved eastward across the eastern half of the United States, including four that were rated as F3 on the Fujita scale.
Confirmation, along with strength and intensity will be determined by the National Weather Service, but residents have been posting videos and pictures on social media of the damage left behind.
